NEW AD: Affordable Virginia Launches New Six-Figure Ad Buy Calling On Jen Kiggans and Republicans in Congress to NOT Hold the Government Hostage

Virginia Beach, VA - Today, with a government shutdown looming, Affordable Virginia launched a $250,000 ad buy calling on Congresswoman Jen Kiggans and Republicans in Congress to stop making health care more expensive and keep the government open. The ad, Hostage, urges Virginians to contact their representatives and demand they stop raising the cost of health care so they can hand tax breaks to billionaires.

“With a government shutdown only days away, we want to make sure this message is heard throughout the Commonwealth, especially with health care costs on the line,” said Emily Yeatts, Campaigns Director for Affordable Virginia. “Our elected officials like Rep. Jen Kiggans need to be held accountable. Working Virginians and families across the country cannot afford the rising costs of health care. Whether it’s cuts to Medicaid or the skyrocketing cost of insurance premiums, accessing health care is becoming more and more difficult. And as a state with one of the highest percentages of government employees, Virginians cannot afford to miss a paycheck. Republicans in Congress need to put working families first, protect our health care, and stop padding billionaires’ pockets.”
