NEW AD: Affordable Virginia Rolls Out TV Advertising Campaign Calling On Rep. Rob Wittman to Stop Raising Costs
Midlothian, VA – Today, Affordable Virginia launched a new TV advertising campaign calling out Rep. Rob Wittman for his vote to cut Medicaid to give tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations. The new ad calls on him to stop raising health care costs and urges constituents to contact his official office.
“Rep. Wittman’s vote for the Republican Tax Law is a direct attack on the health care that working families, seniors, and children across Virginia rely on every day,” said Emily Yeatts, Campaign Director for Affordable Virginia. “He voted to cut Medicaid to help pay for tax breaks for billionaires, putting hospitals in his own district at risk and threatening access to health care for thousands of Virginians. Families in Tappahannock could be forced to drive all the way to Richmond for care. How is that acceptable? We are calling on Rep. Rob Wittman to restore Medicaid funding, stop raising health care costs, and stand up for his constituents.”
When Rep. Rob Wittman voted for the Republican Tax Law, he slashed Medicaid for 260,000 Virginians who rely on it. The vote put rural hospitals at risk of closure in his district. A recent report from the state Joint Commission on Health Care cited both VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital and Bon Secours Rappahannock General Hospital as at risk.

“Everywhere you look, health care is costing more and more
And the signs of Congressman Wittman’s hand in it are all over Virginia
Wittman voted to cut Medicaid to give special tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations.
Wittman’s cuts put Virginia hospitals in our communities at risk of reduced services, or even closure.
Forcing longer drives for care, limiting access, and jacking up health care costs.
It’s time Congressman Wittman started looking out for us.”
