Military Families Worry About Loved Ones While Stretching Their Budget at Home

Virginia Beach, VA – Families in Virginia are now facing a price jump of nearly 50 cents at the pump. This comes amid the escalating war in Iran, which has led to increases in oil prices and the cost of household goods. Rep. Jen Kiggans has been outspoken about her support of the war in Iran, despite the resulting higher prices and over a billion-dollar-a-day price tag

These increased gas prices come at a time when Virginians are already dealing with increasing costs on almost everything else. Tariffs are a large contributor, and Rep. Kiggans has repeatedly voted to allow cost-raising and job-killing tariffs, even as prices remain high and job losses are mounting. Additionally, Rep. Kiggans has voted to increase the cost of healthcare, including slashing Medicaid and refusing to restore essential ACA tax credits.

“Rep. Jen Kiggans, as the Rep for VA-02, is in Washington to be a voice for the military families, veterans, working families – everyone who is suffering as a result of the administration’s misaligned priorities,” said Alexis, resident of  Virginia Beach. “Working families deserve oversight and accountability, and real progress towards lowering the cost of living. Instead of lowering costs for health care, groceries, and childcare, families in Hampton Roads are dealing with the stress of higher prices and possible deployment. That means having a parent gone, and more juggling and less support for the parents left behind. I'm asking Jen Kiggans to protect military families and lower our costs.”

This comes after a year of Rep. Kiggans claiming we could not afford to extend ACA tax credits for three years and voting to slash essential programs families rely on. Weeks spent in Iran could easily pay for the renewal of the ACA tax credits.
