Rep. Jen Kiggans Fervently Supporting Iran War As Gas Prices Are Expected to Skyrocket in Virginia

Virginia Beach, VA – Rep. Jen Kiggans continues to fervently defend the war in Iran, saying she “couldn’t be a “stauncher supporter” of the conflict as gas prices in Virginia Beach surge more than 50% since the conflict in Iran began and are expected to continue to rise. This comes after she claimed in just April that, “Republicans have returned America to energy dominance” and “brought down prices.”

The conflict has cost Virginia households an average of nearly $750 through higher costs on not just gas, but nearly everything else. Grocery prices surged higher in the month of April more than any month in the last four years.

“It’s telling that as gas prices climb, Rep. Jen Kiggans’ response is to continue to support the war and not explain why costs are rising,” said Emily Yeatts, Campaign Director for Affordable Virginia. “Families in Hampton Roads see prices rise every time they fill up their tank, buy groceries, or pay their bills. They know prices have gone up, and it’s largely due to Rep. Jen Kiggans’ voting record. Instead of trying to hide from the issue, Rep. Kiggans should start fighting for policies that actually lower costs for the people she represents.”

Just this week, Rep. Jen Kiggans voted against a resolution that would require congressional approval for further military action in Iran, continuing to green light the conflict.
