NEW AD: Affordable Virginia Rolls Out New Ad Calling Out Rep. Jen Kiggans For Supporting Illegal and Cost-Raising Tariffs

Virginia Beach, VA – Today, Affordable Virginia launched a new ad calling out Rep. Jen Kiggans for her support of President Trump’s tariffs, which have resulted in working Virginians spending upwards of $1,700 more in necessities within the last year. Many of the tariffs Rep. Jen Kiggans supported were ruled illegal by the Supreme Court in February.

In the ad, Ken, a constituent of Rep. Jen Kiggans from Virginia Beach and a retired foreman, underscores how vital the shipyard is to Hampton Roads’ economy, warning that the tariffs have reduced demand for household goods and led to fewer ships coming into port, putting local jobs at risk. He also brings up how tariffs are raising costs on almost everything and asks Rep. Jen Kiggans to stop making life more expensive for Virginians.

“We all know how important the shipyard is to our local economy, and anything that results in fewer ships coming in is a threat to our livelihoods,” said Ken, Navy Veteran and Virginia Beach resident. “You can throw a stone in any direction and hit someone who is connected to the shipyard, and while they worry about lost hours, they’re also doing their best to make ends meet. Rep. Jen Kiggans supported this administration’s illegal tariffs and gave huge tax breaks to billionaires. Rep. Kiggans must condemn these tariffs and give her constituents a refund.”

Despite US consumers paying 95% of tariffs, Rep. Kiggans has asked her constituents to be patient with the process and has repeatedly voted to allow this administration unilateral control over tariffs, even as they drive up costs for families in her district.
